A sore that erodes mucous membranes and penetrates the underlying muscle are known as ulcers.
CAUSES OF ULCER:
- Most ulcers develop when a common bacterium called Helicobacter pylori, infects the intestinal tract.
- Smoking
- Emotional stress
- High alcohol consumption
- High use of drugs like Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen and other non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs.
FOODS TO BE AVOIDED :
- Coffee
- Sources of caffeine
- Peppermint
- Chilies
- Cloves
- Garlic
- Alcohol
- Fatty foods
- Late-night snacks

FOODS TO BE INCLUDED:
–A proper balanced diet with varieties to promote healing
–Iron rich foods like
- Lean meat
- Poultry
- Fortified cereals
- Legumes and
- Dried fruits

PREVENTION OF ULCER:
- Eating moderate size meals at regular intervals.
- Quit smoking
- Exercising to raise endorphin level
- Harmful medications to be avoided
SYMPTOMS OF ULCER:
- Burning pain in stomach usually when it is empty or 2-3hours after eating.
- Intestinal bleeding
- Heartburn
- Bloating and gas
