Several painful white or yellowish raised spots which appear in the mouth are referred to as canker sores or mouth ulcers.
CAUSES:
- The exact cause of mouth is not known but It can be due to abnormal immune response or viral infection.
- Stress or local trauma such as ill fitting dentures .
- In some cases mouth ulcers maybe due to any systemic disorders or allergic , celiac disease Crohn’s disease or lupus.
- Iron, vitamin B12 and folate deficiency I’ve also been found the causes of mouth ulcers.
FOODS TO BE AVOIDED:
- Salty foods
- Spicy foods
- Acidic foods
- Very hot beverages
- Alcohol
FOODS TO BE INCLUDED:
Iron rich foods
- Lean meat
- Legumes
- Dried fruits
- Fortified cereals
Folate rich foods
- Dark green leafy vegetables
- Wheat germ
- Legumes
Vitamin B12
- Lean animal products
DIETARY MANAGEMENT :
- Follow a bland soft diet – Include foods like yogurt and custard, rice and poached chicken.
- Avoid salty spicy or acidic foods that can worsen the mouth ulcer .
- Alcohol and very hot beverages also should be avoided.
