Colds and flus are highly contagious respiratory infections that are caused by viruses.
CAUSES:
- Common cold is caused by viruses
- It is spread by fluid drops getting released into air when someone coughs or sneezes.
- It is also transferred to surfaces by touch.
FOODS TO BE AVOIDED :
- Sugary foods
- Cold drinks
- Junk foods
- Ice creams and chocolates
FOODS TO BE INCLUDED:
- Vitamin C rich foods
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Garlic
- Turmeric
- Hot peppers (chilies)
- Fluids
- Chicken soup
- Spicy foods
- Zinc rich foods
PREVENTION:
- Avoiding people who already have cold.
- Wearing masks in public
- Washing hands frequently with soap and water
- Consuming vitamin C rich foods.
SYMPTOMS IN CASE OF SEVERITY:
Most colds go away by themselves, but you should see a doctor when:
- Fever lasting for more than 48hours.
- A cough that produces green, yellow or bloody phlegm
- A severe headache
- Pain in face
- Trouble breathing or swallowing
