Diarrhea is not a disease but a symptom of underlying problem which causes frequent passage of loose, watery stools.
SYMPTOMS INCASE OF SEVERE DIARRHOEA:
- Diarrhea lasting more than 2days
- The appearance of blood, mucus or worms in the feces
- Severe abdominal pain
- Diarrhea accompanied by vomiting and fever.
FOODS TO BE AVOIDED :
- Citrus juices
- Salads
- Fruits
- Whole grains
- Alcohol
- Caffeine
FOODS TO BE INCLUDED:
- Water
- Herbal teas
- Apple juice
- Broth
- Low sugar beverages
- Lots of fluids
DIETARY MANAGEMENT:
- Stop solid food and rehydrate.
- Slowly introduce low-fiber foods like:
- Crackers
- Toast
- Rice
- Bananas
- Cooked carrots
- Boiled potatoes
- Chicken
Avoid milk products until the symptoms disappear
