Thyroid is a gland that is present just below the Adam’s apple(larynx).This gland produces T3-tri-iodo thyronine and T4 thyroxine hormones. These hormones help in regulating the metabolism, physical development, mental development, nerve function, muscle function and circulation.
How thyroid gland works?
Thyroid needs specific nutrient Iodine to produce its hormones. Either too much or too less iodine leads to improper function of the gland.
This malfunction of thyroid leads to disorders like
- Goitre (overgrown thyroid)
- Cretinism(growth deficiency)
- Hypothyroidism(underactive thyroid)
- Hyperthyroidism(overactive thyroid)

Symptoms:
