Bile fluid contains high levels of cholesterol and the pigment bilirubin, both of which precipitate to form stones. Most gallstones are hardened cholesterol, the rest are made up of bilirubin plus calcium.
CAUSES:
The exact cause of gall stones is not known. Yet, it may be because of some reasons like:
- Overweight
- Family history
- High levels of bad cholesterol
- Crash weight loss diets
AVOID:
- Weight gain
- Excessive Alcohol
SYMPTOMS:
- Pain in upper right abdomen after a meal.
- Sudden, severe pain extended to the back and right shoulder.
PREVENTION:
- maintaining healthy lifestyle along with moderate exercise can help prevent gallstones.
- Do not skip your breakfast. Have breakfast regularly.
Consume small frequent meals at regular intervals
DIETARY MANAGEMENT :
- Eat small, frequent meals especially breakfast.
- Consume plenty of starchy foods with lots of fruits and vegetables.
- Along with fruits and vegetables, moderate servings of proteins and small amounts of fat should be included in the diet.
- Consume plenty of fluids. 6 to 8 glasses of water per day should be taken regularly.
