CAUSES:
Some temporary conditions include:
- Cold
- Upset stomach
- Dental problems
- Stress
Sometimes it may indicate serious illness such as
- Clinical depression
- Anemia
- Kidney disease
- Cancer
Some other causes include
- Nutritional deficiencies like vitamin C and B vitamins.
- Drinking large quantities of water before meals.
FOODS TO BE AVOIDED:
- Excessive alcohol
- Liquids before meals.
- Bran
- High fiber foods

- Vegetables
- Fresh fruits
- Lean meat
- Seafood
- Nuts

- Whole grains
DIETARY MANAGEMENT :
- Eat small snacks through the day rather than three large meals.
- Have a lemon drop. Sucking something increases saliva flow thereby stimulating appetite.
- Try a little exercise. Taking a walk before meals may help in increasing the appetite.
- Create a pleasant eating atmosphere.
